This is a 1:1 arcade port of the game FROGGER by KONAMI from 1981 for the Amiga 500. The game is written in 68k assembler, based on the original Z80 code.

About Frogger

Frogger is a one or two player game in which players move their frog
from the bottom to the top of the screen. This is achieved by overcoming a
number of hazards without getting run over or drowned.
The first half of the screen is a bi-directional flow of traffic
including buses, cars and race cars. Players must avoid these vehicles.
Frogs can move safely with the flow of traffic to make their way to the
second half of the screen which consists of a river with fast moving logs
and sinkable turtles. Frogs must hop on the backs of the logs and the sinkable
turtles to get to the home base at the top of the screen. At random times
throughout the game play a lady frog will appear on a log.

With the new WHDload slave v1.23 it now allows to quit back to WB, but if you are in NTSC WB mode, it sets WB to PAL with a large gap at bottom of screen.

Try out version 1.24 :)

Tried to get this to work on my CDTV using a floppy drive.  Boots off the floppy for a bit then gets to a black screen.  Same for my A4000.  Any tricks to getting this to work?

Are the first 6 tracks loaded (the drive should click 6 times) or is there a black screen immediately. Maybe a guru is displayed?

The drive clicks a bunch of times. Probably 6 then a black screen. Maybe because my CDTV is NTSC?  I tried on my 4000 as well in PAL but same result. I did get it working on my A1200 with WHDLoad.

Thanks for reporting. I first have to create a configuration to recreate the problem.

Please try version 1.22 and give me feedback.

ok will do.

Sorry to be obtuse, I see you posted 1.22 but I can't see how to download it.  the download page seems to have 1.21 still.

The only thing this fabulous port lacks now is highscore saving to the disk. I don't know why all Amiga arcade ports don't do this.

Yes, that's a good point. I will implement this next. Maybe the same for the ADF version.

Please could you consider adding support to define your own keys rather than cursor only.

This would be possible, but a separate page would be possible for the definition. Or you can store a config file for the WHDLoad version.

But it would be easy to operate it additionally using the AWSD keys. The ADF version would also benefit from this.

Simple but captivating arcade game.

Congratulations for the excellent conversion!

Very good game and just like the arcade version, thanks. I also added it to my October Amiga games video.

Thanks to you too for the feedback ;)

Very nice arcade conversion! Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 03:25:13. Subscription to our YouTube or Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Thanks for the feedback ;)

This is awesome! Brings back such memories :D love it.

Nice to hear that you like it.

This is absolutely superb. However there's a little bug where the Lady Frog sometimes gets left behind on the screen if you don't collect her, and floats around afterwards, including over the water, but can't be picked up.

Meanwhile here's some box art for it :)

Really nice.

This bug is also present in the arcade version. I wanted to keep the game very close to the original.

But this bug also bothers me. And that's not the only one. But if you consider that the code is from 1981, it is very impressive from the developers back then.

Interesting. Never seen it on the coin-op.

Sorry, it's a bug on my part. The developers from 1981 simply poked into the sprite address to fix the bug. I couldn't assign this, but now.

In ROM starting at address $1F87, for anyone interested.

You have announced beta version 3, but only beta version 2 is available...

I just posted a small update on the project. The changes mentioned are in the final version.

It looks promising 👍
